Blue Series

In the summer of 2023, we moved to Switzerland for three months. In desperate need of a change, I was quickly inspired by all the colors, architecture and abundance of environmental design. At the local supply shop, there were so many different options for processed clay, and thanks to DB Pottery Studio, I was able to work on producing a few Blue Porcelain pieces.

This porcelain is soft like butter, trying to rush it doesn't yield the best results. Every stage of working with this clay brings out beautiful shades of blue that are incredibly fun to witness. The end result was a strong cobalt blue colour, unglazed and in its natural form. Warping the pieces requires considerable patience and understanding of how far the clay can be pushed before breaking. It speaks volumes about our struggles with mental health and the capacity that our brains have before we succumb to/push through the pressure.
