SCULPTURAL BOWLS

In order to reduce the weight of my bowls, I have been focusing on hand built sculptural pieces. These bowls are made from a single slab or multiple slabs joined together. Although it is much more difficult to achieve movement on pieces that are hand built versus wheel thrown, the time it takes to put these pieces together makes them all the more special. I also have much more freedom to sculpt them to my liking than I would if the pieces were thrown on the wheel.

These pieces are made with black clay or porcelain, and are covered in a variety of textured glaze and coloured clay.
