WARPED VESSELS

A series of vessels that can be used for anything. Pieces that can stand alone adding depth and movement to a space, or be functional when needed. Tumblers and vases, items that don’t need to be put away when not in use.

These pieces are some of my favourite to make. They require careful play with the material, pushing the clay over and over again and molding it while on the wheel. Since clay doesn’t do well with asymmetrical shapes on the wheel, most of the pieces require the use of heat during the warping process, before being removed for drying. In the drying process, these pieces are all trimmed by hand, and repeatedly cleaned up ensuring any cracks or breaks in the clay are fixed or covered. The results are beautiful pieces that are meant to be multifunctional.

Pieces are thrown with porcelain, covered with a clear glaze.
